In a bid to encourage reading among students in Ekiti State, the Enny’s Book Club has organized an essay competition for Public Secondary students in the state.

The competition held in six centers across the state is named after the former Vice Chancellor of the Bamidele Olomilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere Ekiti, Prof. Femi Adeoluwa.

The Enny’s Book Club is an initiative of the son of the former BOUESTI VC, Enioluwa Adeoluwa, who is a content creator

Prof Adeoluwa explained that the Essay Competition, which would be an annual one, was put together to enhance academics among students, especially in public schools.

“Enny book club is organising this essay competition for senior secondary school students in Ekiti state, because he is an indigene of the state and so he wants the students to think about Nigeria, think about the School system, and how they could proffer solutions to the different problems affecting the nation through their write ups.” He remarked

He said that about nineteen schools participated in the Ado Ekiti center while a substantial number of schools also participated in the other five centers spread across the state.

“The best student would be going home with One Point Five Million Naira, the second best will be given One Million Naira, while the third will be awarded Five Hundred Thousand Naira”. He remarked

He added that the other participants would be given writing materials.

The representative of the state ministry of Education, Mr Damisi Ogunrotimi, said that the ministry applauded the initiative and described it as part of the human capital development of the present administration in the state.

Some of the teachers who accompanied their students to the centre, Mrs Abosede Akindele and Mr Ibikunle Oloniniyi, affirmed that the essay would encourage the students in critical thinking and would ask we’ll build their confidence.

The scripts have been transported to ENNY Book Club in Lagos for marking, while the date for the presentation of prizes would be announced later.
