Local Government workers in Ekiti State have pledged to deliver two hundred thousand votes for the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate come 20th of next month Election.

They made the promise during the visit of the Chairman and Management staff of the Local government Service Commission to Emure, Ise, Ikere and Ikere west council areas of the state.

The local government workers who spoke through their President, Mr Olatunde explained that the candidate of the APC who is governor Oyebanji had prioritized the welfare of workers in the council.

“Since Governor Oyebanji came on board every sector at the Local government level has changed for the good, we now have more permanent secretary than before, we have DAs than before, we have HLA than before, in essence the governor gave room for workers to attain the peak of their career in no record time, is it the prompt payment of salary we want to talk about or offsetting of backlog of wages owed us” he remarked

According to him, the governor has revived an education programme for local government workers that was suspended in 1992, when Ekiti was still part of Ondo State.

He added that more than hundred workers are currently pursuing master’s degrees at Obafemi Awolowo University, fully funded by the state government.

“Let’s thank this our governor, he has done the exceptional, imagine the Education programme that has since stopped was revived through Baba, who has been a local government worker before, he put the programme before the governor and he approved it, I’m part of those benefitting from the programme at OAU now and when we finish this rain semester, another set will benefit” he added.

Earlier the chairman of the commission, Mr Samuel Abejide had appealed to the workers to reciprocate government gestures by supporting the governor at the polls.

He urged them to mobilise support from friends and family members with a view to ensuring victory for the governor come next month Election.

“Please my people let us go back home and canvas more vote for the governor, let’s tell our people what the governor has done, let’s make them see reasons why he should be reelected, if you want the good works to continue, there is the need for us to embrace continuity. He remarked

Other members of the commission who spoke included, Mr Wole Olujobi, Mr Ṣẹgun Oonade, and Prince Suyi Aladesanmi urged the workers to reelect Governor Oyebanji for a second term in office.

The chairmen of the council promised to work assiduously for the victory of the governor at the polls.
