….Hails End of 30-Year Jinx
An All Progressive Congress Stalwart from Ido/Osi Local Government, Dr. Ayodeji Dada, has congratulated the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, on his resounding victory at the polls, describing the renewed mandate as a clear testament to the governor’s performance in office.
In a congratulatory statement after the declaration of results by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC in Ado-Ekiti, Dr. Dada said the outcome of the election reflected the will of Ekiti people, who he noted have chosen continuity over experimentation.
The House of Representative Aspirant stressed that the victory was not just for Governor Oyebanji, but for all lovers of good governance in the state.
Dr. Dada particularly lauded the governor for what he termed “breaking the 30-year back-to-back jinx,” noting that Oyebanji has become the first governor in Ekiti State’s history to secure a second term consecutively.
“Since the return of democracy in 1999, no sitting governor in Ekiti has won re-election to serve back-to-back. Governor Oyebanji has broken that jinx through hard work, humility, and people-centered projects,” he stated.
The Orin Ekiti born philanthropist highlighted key areas of the governor’s first term that endeared him to the electorate, including prompt payment of salaries and pensions, massive road construction, youth empowerment schemes, and the strengthening of security across the state.
According to him, the achievements formed the basis of the renewed trust reposed in the governor by Ekiti voters.
“This victory is a referendum on performance. Our people have spoken loudly that they want BAO to continue the good work. When a government pays workers as and when due, fixes our roads, and gives hope to our youths, the reward is always a renewed mandate,” Dr. Dada added.
He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for conducting a largely peaceful and credible election, and also saluted security agencies for maintaining neutrality and professionalism throughout the exercise.
Dr Dada urged other contestants to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship and join hands with the governor to move Ekiti forward.
He called on citizens of the state, home and abroad, to rally behind Governor Oyebanji irrespective of political affiliation.
“Election is over. Now is the time for governance. We must all support the governor to deliver on his ‘Shared Prosperity’ agenda for the benefit of our dear state,”_ he noted.
Dr. Dada also congratulated the First Lady, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, the deputy governor, Chief Mrs. Monisade Afuye, and the good people of Ido/Osi council for their roles in securing the victory.
