One hundred and fifty-nine Directors and thirty-nine Heads of Local Government Administration in Ekiti State have sat for a competitive examination to fill vacant positions in the Executive Secretary and HLA cadres.

The examination, held in Ado-Ekiti, was strictly supervised by Permanent Secretaries and the Executive Secretary of the Local Government Service Commission, led by Mr. Rotimi Akomolede.

The Pastoral Centre, venue of the examination in Ado-Ekiti, came alive again as applicants seeking the next level in their careers besieged the venue for the conduct of the examination.

The names of eligible applicants were pasted for proper identification, while the one-hour-thirty-minute scheduled examination commenced around 10 a.m.

In his address, Mr. Akomolede urged them to put in their best and avoid any incriminating materials.

“I know we are mature senior officers. Please let us abide by the rules guiding this examination. Let us respect ourselves. Respect begets respect,” he added.

In an interview, Mr. Akomolede said the competitive examination was in line with the governance policy of the Biodun Oyebanji-led government to ensure a virile local government system.

“All these are in line with the cardinal points of Mr. Governor, which is good governance. We are bringing good governance to the grassroots through this standard. We are going to produce good managers at the grassroots,” he remarked.

He charged prospective management staff to be upright and diligent, and to replicate what they had learnt at the grassroots.

“We want to build a virile local government administration and ensure good and sustainable development at the grassroots. I have already told them that they should replicate whatever they have learnt here at the grassroots. At least in the last four days, they must have read,” he said
