About Us
The Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State (BSES) from the onset of its creation strives to be the number one station in the South West exploiting the strategic location of Ekiti State.
The signals from the station feed neighbouring States of Kogi, Kwara, Osun and part of Ondo State. Its community programmes depict the rich heritage, culture and tradition of Ekiti people.
The Station also serves as the bridge between the people and the government shaping and molding opinions on policies and implementation of government programmes.
The Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State as a Corporation has a unique mode of operations that are quite different from that of the core Civil Service of the State. The State was carved out of the Old Ondo State in 1996 consequently, Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State split from Ondo State Radiovision Corporation.
Our History
HISTORY
Ekiti State was created from the former Ondo State on 1″ October, 1996 by the Late Gen. Sani Abacha.
The Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State (BSES) made upof AM Radio Station, called “Voice of Ekiti” and her sister FM Radio Station named “Golden Voice of Ekiti” and the visual arm (TV Station) called “Station of Creativity” came alive as a result of the state creation.

The Ondo State Radiovision Corporation established a Booster station at Ifaki-Ekiti to boost signals to the Northern part of Ekiti. The booster station was not functioning then due to lack of spare parts. By the middle of October, 1996 when Ekiti State had been carved out of the former Ondo State. Civil/Public Servants had started reporting for duty in Ado-Ekiti. About 185 ekiti members of staff (cutting across all the departments) of the former OSRC were deployed to the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State.
As a result of lack of office accommodation for BSES staff, a private residence located at 2 Fasuan Cresent, Similoluwa Area, Ado-Ekiti was used as Administrative Office and News Room. When the private residence could no longer accommodate the 185 workers, Ado-Ekiti Local Government released its Okeyinmi Office for BSES.
It was jubilation galore when on the 14″ of February, 1997 barely four months after the creation of the State, the great people of Ekiti heard the voice of Ekiti on air. The dedicated group of workers, particularly, in the engineering section. They worked day and night to make the old booster station at Ifaki ready for transmission.
Test transmission of the new station lasted for a couple of months, thereafter, a daily broadcast between 5a.m and 8p.m followed. Voice of Ekiti, 549KHZ has its coverage in these neighouring states: Edo, Ondo, Oyo, Osun, Delta, Kwara and
Kogi.
