    In a bid to boost water supply in Ado Ekiti metropolis, the Chairman, Ado Central Local Council Development Area, Engr Toyin Ojo, has inaugurated three multimillion naira worth of modern Solar powered boreholes for the use of the residents.

    The Chairman, while speaking at the ceremony, held in Ado Ekiti, on Wednesday, appealed to the people of the area to ensure proper maintenance of the public boreholes in their domain.

    Ojo said the programme was conceptualised to address perennial water shortage in the metropolis and the consequential health hazards on the populace.

    The boreholes inaugurated by the council boss included : a generator powered borehole at Ijigbo Ratibi Mosque, Agric-Olope and Ekute areas of Ado Ekiti.

    Engr Ojo, while speaking at each of the project sites, said that the decision to put in place the borehole was to complement the efforts of the state government in providing drinkable water for the electorate.

    According to him, the plights of the people of the benefiting communities were becoming unbearable in terms of getting water to use in their different households, hence the donation.

    The Local Government Boss added that making the residents of the capital city have unfettered access to potable water would give the town a befitting facelift and makes it deserved of its status as a capital town.

    Mr Ojo thanked the people of the council for their support and called on them to continue to pay their taxes and rates to enhance more social economic development.

    “We have to ensure that we make potable water available in Ado Central situated within the heart of Ado Ekiti capital city. We have to put in place all the public amenities that will alleviate the sufferings of our people and water supply is one of these necessities.

    “It is not really about access to potable water alone, we have to look at it from a broader spectrum of using this to check outbreak of water borne diseases that can cause untimely death, or subject our people to all manners of sicknesses”.

    Earlier in their remarks, the Eyesorun of Ado Ekiti Olori Bosede Adejugbe and the President League of Imams and Alfas South West, Edo and Delta States Sheikh Jamiu Kewulere applauded the chairman Ado Central LCDA for executing such lofty project.

    Some residents of the benefited communities in an interview promised to make the best use of the borehole.

    At all the communities the project was greeted by dancing and celebration as the residents could not contain their excitement and happiness.
