The Chairman of the Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission, Mr. Samuel Abejide, has cautioned local government staff against being used to pursue interests that could portray the councils as opposition to the state government.
Abejide gave the warning during a tour of Ido/Osi , Ilejemeje, Moba, Isokan and Ero council areas.
He said such actions often result to the local government being seen as troublesome and difficult to work with, and that it could jeopardize the good relationship and cooperation the councils currently enjoy with the state government.
“This has always been the pattern,” Can you like the person who is giving you problems?”, I’m urging you to desist from act inimical to the progress of the government.
The Chairman stressed that regardless of other interests at play, the Local Government must not be seen taking the lead in public and civil service issues of disagreement.
To sustain the current positive momentum, Abejide urged staff to actively support the continuity of the Governor’s administration.
He explained that this would enable the local government service to benefit from further expansion and the elevation it is presently experiencing.
The chairman also delivered the Governor’s appreciation to the staff for their turnout during the May Day celebration, noting that the Governor acknowledged and valued their participation.
Speaking earlier the Chairman of Nugle Comrade O. B. Olatunde said the union had enjoyed significant growth and goodwill under the present administration and should reciprocate with their massive votes.
He declared that the union would back the governor’s second-term bid “at all cost” and set a target of delivering 200,000 votes.
The president credited the governor with improving the service through timely promotions, payment of outstanding arrears from the previous administration, prompt salary payments, and opportunities for staff to attend training at the University of Ibadan.
“Because the governor has treated us like his own, this cannot go unnoticed and unrewarded,” he said.
He urged staff to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and cast their votes for the governor, adding that the union wants Ekiti’s voting pattern to reflect genuine support for the governor’s reelection.
