    Ekiti Governorship Election: Local Government workers donate N10m to Support Oyebanji.

    The Ekiti State local government workers, on Tuesday, donated ten million naira to support the reelection bid of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

    The cheque was presented to the Governor in Ado, on behalf of the workers by the Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, Mr Samuel Abejide in the presence of representatives drawn from all local governments and LCDAs across the state.

    ‎In his remarks, Mr Abejide who compared Ekiti local government Administration with their compatriots in other state, noted that the welfare of Ekiti council workers as implemented by the Governor was far better.

    ‎He called on local government workers to mobilize more in their various council areas to update their Permanent Voter Cards in preparation for the 2026 Ekiti Gubernatorial election.

    ‎The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees chairman, Ekiti State Chapter, Mr Oluseyi Olatunde who reeled out the impacts of Governor Oyebanji to improving the living standard of Council workers, said their visit to his office was to again reaffirm their commitment and supports for the Governor and his administration till 2030.

    ‎He said the governor had surpassed the previous administration in the areas of implementation and payment of the ₦30,000 consequential adjustment, particularly for level 10 officers and above in both the public and civil service of Ekiti State, payment of five months’ salary arrears owed by the previous administrations, as well as seven months’ salary deductions owed to local government and primary school teachers.

    Others according to him included payment of 2016–2020 leave bonuses to both local government and state civil servants, implementation of CONMESS and CONHESS for local government health workers—entitlements that had been pending for 13 years, and appointment of Heads of Local Government Administration as well as provision official cars to make their work easier among others.

     

    In his reponse, Governor Oyebanji thanked the workers for the solidarity particularly members of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees -NULGE and Nigeria Union of Teachers -NUT .

    The governor‎ who said his administration welcomed constructive criticisms however frowned at those cooking contents on the social media to discredit his performance and that of President Bola Tinubu.

    He used the opportunity to explain that anyone willing to contest in the 2026 Guber election is free, but such aspirations must not be traded with the blood of any citizen, reiterating that his administration would not condone anyone promoting political violence under any guise.

    ‎Governor Oyebanji who described Ekiti as a peaceful state assured that APC party’s primary and Guber poll will be conducted peacefully.

    ‎He called on council workers to mobilize more eligible voters in their domains to update their Permanent Voters cards for the coming election.
