He noted that the roles of confidential secretaries, secretarial assistants, and data analysts are vital to the smooth operation of governance at the grassroots, adding that without competent professionals in these positions, administrative processes risk serious setbacks.

“Effective management is crucial to the success of the local government service. It enables us to deliver quality services to citizens, promote transparency and accountability, and drive grassroots development,” he stated.

The Chairman stressed that the workshop was designed to address gaps in office etiquette, workplace relationships, and professional conduct, while also equipping participants with modern information technology skills.

He urged them to be actively engaged, ask questions, and share experiences to maximize the benefits of the training.

Mr. Ajibade commended the Training and Manpower Development Department for its dedication to the programme’s success, expressing confidence that the knowledge acquired will translate into higher productivity and improved service delivery.

The Head of Local Government Administration on Training and Manpower Development Department, Barr. Agbola Emmanuel, in his welcome address, stated that the seventh edition of such training highlighted the commitment of the local government to training and retraining of staff.

He urged participants to replicate all they will learn in their various offices.

The first lecture, delivered by Mrs. Oguntuase Bunmi, focused on developing and appreciating professional image, time-keeping, punctuality, and an introduction to office ethics.

She concluded that ethics within an organization goes beyond simply abiding by rules. It also includes adding meaning, purpose and a strong sense of commitment to the organization’s goals.
