The Permanent Secretary in the Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission, Mr. Rotimi Akomolede, has charged directors across local governments to demonstrate loyalty, commitment, punctuality, and professionalism while discharging their duties.

Akomolede gave the charge during a meeting with directors from the Administration, Works, Community Development, Agriculture and Budget, Planning, Research & Statistics departments in Ado.

He urged them to enforce punctuality in their respective local governments and be dutiful at all times. “You must be well dressed and comport yourselves, because you are examples to your junior officers,” he said.

The Permanent Secretary stressed the need for the directors to manage their relationships with superior officers and political office holders, particularly their chairmen, effectively warning negative reports about them would not be entertained.

Akomolede further charged the directors to remain loyal to the government in power, describing loyalty as key to continuity in governance. “Continuity in government is very germane. We have been enjoying and benefiting from the present government,” he noted.

The PS assured them that his tenure would guarantee fair hearing on issues concerning staff reports from local governments and LCDAs.

On performance, Akomolede directed all directors from the departments of Agriculture to align their work with the government’s six-point agenda.

He insisted that every local government must have visible projects. “You must be handling a project. You must be seen doing something in your various local governments,” he said

In their responses, the Directors expressed appreciation for the leadership direction and pledged their support to the government of the day.

They assured the Commission of their commitment to diligence, punctuality, and effective service delivery, noting that they would uphold the standards expected of them.

The directors also congratulated Akomolede on his appointment and prayed for a smooth, impactful, and successful tenure.
