The Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), chairman, Mr. Samuel Abejide, has called on staff across the state to support the current administration and uphold discipline, as the Commission intensifies grassroots engagements on the ongoing voter registration, ahead of the next year governorship elections in the state.

The chairman gave the charge while on a strategic tour of local governments across the state.

The local government visited are, Efon, Ijero, Ekiti west, Irepodun/Ifelodun, ilejemeje, Moba, Ido Osi and Oye.

In these places the chairman was represented by the commissioners.

Represented at Efon, Comrade Segun Onaade, the chairman acknowledged the support of the workers for the present administration and called for more,

At Ijero, the chairman who was represented by Hon Olawole Adedipe emphasized the need for the workers to remain loyal to the government of the day, saying as civil servant they are expected to be apolitical.

Ekiti west was the next port of call, where the chairman represented by Prince Suyi Aladesanmi urged the staff to ensure registration and collection of the permanent voter cards, to enable them vote candidate of their choices.

The chairman was represented by Hon Cecilia Dada at Irepodun/Ifelodun, where he told the staff that the commission would continue to prioritise their welfare.

At Moba, and Ido/Osi*, chief Abejide represented by Hon. Febisola Adewale and comrade Segun Onaade said the commission frowned at truancy and would not condone indiscipline under any guise.

Hon Olawole Adedipe who spoke on behalf of the chairman in Oye Local government said the tour was to engage the workers directly, and reinforce the government’s commitment to civil service reform and performance.

The commissioner who spoke at Ilejemeje Hon. Wole Olujobi emphasized the importance of reciprocating the government’s numerous welfare gestures, such as the approval of *Master’s Degree programmes for staff*—with dedication and political support at the polls.

They both expressed the need for continuity in governance, saying it is essential for sustaining the progress already made.

Earlier the Permanent Secretary, in the commission, Mrs. Titilayo Toba Ojo who delivered the welcome address lauded the present administration in the commission.

“We are here to speak about a man who has changed the narrative of our service,” the commission led by Mr Abejide has turned things around for good in the commission and i must say, there’s no need for secrecy or fear anymore. The Commission is empowered to hire and fire—but only when necessary. Let me also remind you that we are here to defend the workers—but only if you are defendable.” she remarked

She spoke frankly about the past, referencing periods when staff lost their jobs due to political transitions and instability in governance, and prayed against such occurrence

“And I pray I won’t have to sign anyone’s termination letter before I retire. But if I’m pushed to that point, I will not hesitate to act—because that is my job.”

Mrs. Toba-Ojo urged all staff to remain disciplined, committed, and shun acts that could provoke the commission to wield it’s big stick

In their various responses, the Chairmen of Nugle in the Local Governments visited expressed appreciation for the outreach and pledged the support of the staff to the current administration.

They assured the delegation that the local government system remains solidly behind His Excellency, Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, and committed to supporting his second-term bid.

*”Our staff and the people of our local governments are ready to stand with the Governor”We have felt the impact of his leadership, and we will not hesitate to reciprocate through our votes and support. They remarked.
