As part of the mop-up operations towards ensuring a peaceful and safe atmosphere before, during and after the forthcoming June 20 gubernatorial election, the Command, through its Violent Crime Response Unit(VCRU), embarked on intelligence-led raids of some criminal hideouts.

These operations which were carried out around Aramoko/Erijiyan-Ekiti axis on 8th and 9th June, 2026 paid off as four suspects, one Oyebanji Seun, Ajibade Simeon, Ige Dada and Adeoye Rasak were arrested at their different criminal hideouts. A thorough search was conducted around the premises where nine(9) unlicensed barrel guns as well as twenty four(24) live cartridges were recovered.

In another development, the operatives of Emure Divisional Police Headquarters, Emure-Ekiti, while on a joint patrol exercise with the Nigeria Forest Security Service and the Agro Marshal Personnel on 10/06/2026, received a distress information that there was a shooting incident by unknown armed hoodlums at Okesiri Farm settlement.

Upon receipt of the information, the operatives swung into action and moved to the scene. Upon sighting the operatives, the armed hoodlums engaged them in a gun duel. In the process, one of the suspects, Moses Bataph, was arrested while others escaped.

Items recovered from the suspects include; one Baretta Pistol with two rounds of live ammunition, a substance suspected to be criminal charm, and a sum of fifty four thousand two hundred naira only.

All the Suspects arrested are currently undergoing investigation and will be charged to court therefore.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Falade Adegoroye Micheal, while commending the good spirited members of the Public for their alertness, prompt and credible tip-offs which led to these breakthroughs, reiterates the Command’s commitment to the safety of lives and property of citizens, maintenance of law and order as well as fairness and justice.
