The Chairman of the Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission, Mr. Samuel Abejide has called for more unity and team work among members of staff.

Abejide gave the charge when he received Mr Rotimi Akomolede the newly posted Permanent Secretary, to the commission.

He urged him to be mindful of the sensitive and time-bound nature of his duties, especially at a crucial political period requiring urgency, alertness, and dedication.

He added that having personally gone through similar responsibilities, the new Permanent Secretary would not require excessive guidance but must remain focused and responsive at all times.

The Chairman prayed that God will grant him wisdom, progress, and a successful tenure that will benefit both the Commission and its entire workforce.

He described the Commission as a purpose-driven institution anchored on teamwork, discipline, and staff welfare.

Abejide emphasized that staff welfare remains a top priority, but stressed that it must go hand in hand with commitment, unity, and effective performance.

According to him, the Commission operates on a standard of accountability where every officer must be ready to communicate properly and align with official procedures.

The Chairman lauded attendance at the meeting stating that it reflects the level of seriousness expected within the system.

He, however, warned that excuses for non-performance will not be tolerated, adding that every challenge must be approached with a solution-oriented mindset.

He commended the former Permanent Secretary Mrs Titilayo Toba-Ojo, for her ability to meet the demands and pace of the office, describing her tenure as impactful and commendable. In his response, Mr Akomolede expressed appreciation for the opportunity to work directly with the chairman.

He commended the Chairman’s quality of work and thanked God for his life, goodness, and for what God has used him to accomplish within the Commission.

He noted that he has been a beneficiary of the Chairman’s generosity and kindness, and prayed that God would elevate him to greater heights in life.

Mr Akomolede who had earlier address the staff during the monthly prayer session expressed gratitude to God for the elevation and reaffirmed the Chairman’s call for their support, stressing that such cooperation is necessary for the continued progress and effectiveness of the Commission.

Mr. Akomolede emphasized the importance of punctuality, urging officers to be regular at work and to conduct themselves in a manner befitting civil servants.

He also highlighted the need for neatness, describing it as essential to personal discipline and public service, noting that “neatness is next to godliness.”

He encouraged staff to always present themselves properly, citing personal example and stressing that appearance reflects character and responsibility.

Describing his appointment as a call to higher responsibility,he pledged his readiness for the task ahead.

He urged staff to remain committed to service, particularly in ensuring that due benefits and entitlements are given to those who deserve them.

He also called for loyalty and support for the government, stating that civil servants play a crucial role in sustaining governance. He cautioned staff to be mindful of their utterances, especially on social media, and to act in ways that uphold the integrity of the service.
