    The Chairman of the Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), Mr. Samuel Adewumi Abejide, has declared that efficient and transparent revenue collection remains the cornerstone of a functional and sustainable local government system.

    Abejide gave the indication while declaring open a two-day workshop organized by the Commission for key revenue officers across the 16 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state.

    The workshop, held in Ado Ekiti focused on “*Efficient and Effective Revenue Collection and Monitoring*.”

    The chairman who was represented by the commissioner for the training and manpower development department, Mr Wole Olujobi stressed that the training was not a mere formality but a vital intervention to reposition local government officers with modern tools, strategies, and attitudes for effective financial administration.

    “When leakages are blocked, and revenue is monitored with integrity, councils are empowered to deliver services that directly improve lives.” he remarked

    He commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his unwavering support of local government capacity development, stating that the administration has continued to prioritize training as a tool for institutional reform.

    The Permanent Secretary of the Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission, Mrs. Titilayo Toba-Ojo called on participants at the workshop to take the training seriously and avoid treating it as a mere formality or social event.

    Mrs Toba-Ojo who was represented by the HLA in charge of the training and manpower development department, Mr S.A. Familoye emphasized the importance of the workshop in strengthening internal revenue generation and improving efficiency at the grassroots level.

    “This is a crucial period for local governments, It is time to complement allocations from the Federation Account by boosting internally generated revenue (IGR) and plugging financial leakages that have weakened local government performance in the past.” he added

    Participants were urged to fully engage with the training, ask questions, and apply what they learn when they return to their respective Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
