The Chairman of the Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission has urged members of staff of the commission to uphold integrity and efficiency in grassroots governance.

The chairman who gave the charge when he declared open a two-day capacity building workshop in Ado, reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to building a motivated and professional workforce capable of delivering quality service at the grassroots level.

The workshop themed *“Enhancement of the Public Service for Effective Service Delivery at the Grassroots”*, was organized for Directors of Administration, Deputy Directors, and Administrative Officers in the local government service.

The chairman represented by the commissioner in charge of the training and manpower development department Mr Wole Olujobi, explained that the strength of any nation lies in the quality of service delivery at the lowest level of government.

Mr Abejide described the workshop as a strategic move to foster radical departure from old administrative practices, encouraging teamwork, innovation, and commitment to professional responsibilities.

He noted that the training aims to re-equip key administrative officers with the skills and knowledge necessary to implement government policies effectively.

The chairman urged participants to actively engage, ask questions, and share ideas that can drive improvement in local governance.

“Let us commit ourselves to the integrity and service required in our duties, because the grassroots people are counting on us,” he stated.

The workshop features sessions on “The Role of Civil Servants as Change Agents of Government Governance”.

The Permanent secretary in the commission, Mrs Titilayo Toba-Ojo represented by the Head of Local Government Administration (HLA) in charge of Appointments and Postings development at the Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission (ESLGSC), Mr SA Familoye emphasized the importance of training programmes as tools for enhancing service delivery at the grassroots level.

She highlighted the commitment of the Commission to continuous professional development in the local government system.

The PS described administrative officers as the engine room of the service, particularly in the area of policy coordination and implementation.

“Your roles are vital. This training is not just a routine—it is meant to expose you to new ideas that can improve performance and impact lives at the grassroots,” she said.

She cautioned participants against treating the workshop as an opportunity to absent themselves from duty, stating that Government has invested heavily in capacity building.

The NULGE president comrade O. B. Olatunde commended the Commission for the strategic choice of resource persons, describing it as a crucial factor in the success of the training.

“The choice of this resource posting is very, very crucial, and we deeply appreciate it. The facilitators have delivered with clarity and depth, and we’re confident the knowledge acquired will translate into meaningful improvements in our various local governments,”
