The Chairman of the Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission, Mr. Samuel Abejide, on Thursday celebrated his 80th birthday with a thanksgiving service and a series of humanitarian initiatives that impacted hundreds of residents across the Ikole local government axis of the state.
The service attracted a large gathering of dignitaries, political leaders, government officials, community stakeholders, family members, friends, and well-wishers from across Ekiti State.
Traditional rulers were also present in large numbers to honour Mr. Abejide and celebrate his contributions to public service, grassroots administration, and community development over the years.
Speaking at the event, guests paid glowing tributes to the octogenarian, describing him as a leader whose commitment to service has positively impacted many lives within and beyond his immediate community.
In a further demonstration of his dedication to the Christian faith, Mr. Abejide commissioned a newly built duplex mission house donated to his church.
The facility is expected to support missionary activities, church programmes, and accommodation needs for ministers
Earlier during the week, as part of activities marking the milestone birthday, Mr. Abejide empowered about 1,500 beneficiaries with cash gifts of ₦5,000 each alongside food items to support families and vulnerable individuals within the Ikole axis.
The empowerment programme, brought relief to many beneficiaries who expressed gratitude for the gesture and described it as timely support in the face of the current economic realities.
In addition, a free healthcare outreach was organised to commemorate the occasion.
The programme provided residents with medical consultations, health screenings, treatment, and essential medications at no cost.
For many attendees, the occasion was more than a birthday celebration; it was a testament to a lifetime of service, generosity, and devotion to God and humanity.
