…says Ado Constituency 1 House of Assembly candidate, Adarabierin

The House of Assembly candidate for Ado Constituency 1, ASIPA Ayodeji Adarabierin, says Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s re-election has shattered a 30-year political jinx that has denied Ekiti State back-to-back leadership since the return of democracy in 1999.

In a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti after the Saturday, June 20 gubernatorial Election, ASIPA Adarabierin described the governor’s victory as “historic, defining, and liberating,” noting that Ekiti has finally broken the cycle of one-term governors that has slowed the state’s development for three decades.

“From 1999 to 2023, no sitting governor in Ekiti State has won re-election to serve back-to-back. That is 30 years of start-and-stop governance. Today, Governor Oyebanji has broken that jinx. Ekiti people have chosen continuity, and that choice will stabilize our politics and economy,” Adarabierin declared.

He explained that the back-to-back jinx had created a pattern where new administrations spent their first two years learning the ropes and the last two years campaigning, leaving little time for long-term planning.

“With this renewed mandate, Governor Oyebanji now has eight unbroken years to plan, execute, and complete legacy projects. That is the game-changer,” He stated.

The Assembly candidate for Ado Constituency 1 said the jinx was broken not by luck, but by performance, citing the regular payment of salaries and pensions, reconstruction of Ado-Ikere-Akure Road, renovation of public schools, and the governor’s personal connection with artisans, traders, and traditional rulers as reasons voters refused to “change a winning team.”

The State Director , Relax TINUBU is Fixing Nigeria noted that Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, felt the weight of the jinx more than any other town.

“Every four years, policies changed, contractors changed, and projects were abandoned. Our people were tired of instability. This time, they voted to keep what is working,” he said.

The President Inland Club Ado Ekiti praised the governor’s humility and “street credibility” as key factors that demystified the Office of the Governor and made Ekiti people see him as one of them.

“BAO broke the jinx because he first broke the barrier between government and the governed. That emotional connection translated to votes,” Asipa added.

He commended Ekiti Citizens, INEC, security agencies and other stakeholders for ensuring that the will of the people was not truncated, allowing the jinx to be broken through the ballot and not violence.

Adarabierin urged other political parties to study the outcome and recognize that Ekiti now rewards performance, not propaganda.

He charged Governor Oyebanji to treat the breaking of the jinx as a sacred trust, adding that the next four years must lay a foundation so solid that Ekiti will never return to the era of abandoned projects and policy summersaults.

“You are not just governor for another term; you are the bridge between Ekiti’s unstable past and its stable future,” he advised.

ASIPA Adarabierin called on the people of Ado Constituency 1 to support Governor Biodun Oyebanji during his second-term, stressing that political stability would attract investors who had previously avoided Ekiti because of policy uncertainty every four years.

He concluded by congratulating the Governor, his Deputy Governor, Chief Mrs. Monisade Afuye, the First Lady, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, and all Ekitis at home and in the diaspora,

The Convener Asipa Political Family said that the 30-year curse is over and a new Ekiti born, noting that history will remember that it started with BAO.
