The Alawe, of Ilawe Ekiti, Oba Adebanji Ajibade-Alabi, has suspended one of the deity Priests of the town, the Ororin, Sunday Adetolaju, until further notice.
The monarch, who made the pronouncement at a press conference in his palace at Ilawe Ekiti, said that the suspension was based on the former Ororin’s various infractions and disobedience to Ekiti State Chief’s Law, and the violation of the ilawe tradition, culture and customs.
Oba Ajibade-Alabi, who said that a letter of suspension had been handed over to the former deity Priest, announced the appointment of Omo Orin Tunde Bamgbotogun to act as the Ororin.

“Gentlemen of the press, this Sunday Adetolaju has for some time been wearing apparel and paraphernalia exclusively meant for Obas in Ekiti against the extant chiefs law of Ekiti.
Recently he wore a crown and used beaded walking sticks and moved round a section of the town, he was caught on video and his case was reported to Ekiti State Government while I persuaded my people to remain calm.”
The monarch added that the notoriety of the suspended priest included installing himself as a chief without the approval of the prescribed authority who in the case of Ilawe is the Alawe.
