    President, Ekiti Customary Court of Appeal, Abodunde harps on court’s patronage

    ….inaugurates Imesi Customary Court.

    The President Ekiti State Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Monisola Abodunde has re-emphasised the significance of grassroot justice dispensation, calling on Ekiti communities to expedite action on building or renovation of their Customary Courts.

    Abodunde gave the charge when she inaugurated a Customary Court in Imesi Ekiti.

    She explained that the Customary Court remains essential to justice because of its proximity to the citizens.

    Justice Abodunde listed cases handled by Customary Courts to include; succession and inheritance under customary law, land and boundary disputes, rent, dissolution of customary marriages and related matrimonial issues, debt recovery, customary tenancy agreements and disputes, defamation and other personal actions within customary law, among others.

    The Onimesi of Imesi Ekiti, Oba Olatunji Olatunde, thanked Justice Abodunde for considering Imesi worthy of hosting the Customary Court.

    The Monarch assured the President and all relevant authorities that the Customary Court will receive the cooperation and support of the Palace Grounds.

    The Chairman of Imesi Progressive Union, Mr. Dele Falana, expressed happiness on the inauguration of the Customary court, and appealed to sons and daughters of the community to cooperate with the management of the and the king in order to make their job easy.
