The task force team of the Ekiti State Water and Sewerage Company limited has apprehended an individual in the Afao road area of Ado Ekiti, for bypassing water meter and connecting illegally to their water storage.
In a statement by the Management of the company the culprit had resisted arrest, deploying dogs to deter the task team, but luck however ran against him as the policemen who had been supporting the task force team swung into action and apprehended the suspect.
The statement added that the suspect was charged to court where he pleaded for leniency and opted to settle out of court.
The management explained that the successful operation underscored it’s commitment to combating water theft and ensuring compliance with regulations.
The Ekiti water and sewage company limited however warned that anyone found bypassing it meters or connecting water illegally would be made to face the wrath of the law when caught.
“We hereby serve notice to anyone found bypassing our meters or connecting water illegally: you will be prosecuted and made to face the full wrath of the law. Henceforth, we will not tolerate any form of water theft or vandalism. Our team, backed by law enforcement agencies, will take decisive action against anyone caught engaging in such illicit activities.”
