The Nigeria security and Civil Defence Corps Ekiti State command has cautioned bouncer’s association in the state, saying it operations have been constituting threats to the security settings of the state.

The state commandant Mr Toma Enya who gave the warning in a statement said, the Association was unknown to the existing law that guides private security business in Nigeria and the need to register the association as Private Guard Company under one umbrella becomes necessary.

According to him, the Association requires legal backing that can sustain the group with inputs from Private Guards Security Department of the Command.

Commandant Toma who also frowned at the rate at which illegal private guards companies are springing up in the state and the use of illegal accoutrements similar to that of government security agencies warned that, the Command would be going all out to arrest and prosecute anyone found culpable.

<span;>> In a country where high profile distinguished personalities attend occasions or events and unlicensed individuals are responsible for security checks at the entrance is totally unacceptable and undermines national security. He added

Mr Enya bemoaned a situation where some group of people in social functions kitted with accoutrements of Private Guards Security without belonging to any of the registered private guards companies in the state.

He noted that their activities have been hampering security planning of the state as they are not answerable to any supervising agency which can check their excesses.

Speaking on behalf of the association, Mr Stephen Olajide noted that the association was an evolving one and that they are ready for the registration so as to have the support of the Command as well as the extant rules guiding Private security business in Nigeria.

Olajide who noted that impact of Private Security business was essential to the successes of government security agencies in the state, assured the Commandant of the readiness of the association to register  as one of the Private Guards Security businesses in the state with NSCDC.

He called on the Private Guard Department of the Command to continue in their supports in the area of training and retraining of private guards which he adjudged as one of the key roles of the Corps that has been producing good results in the business.
