The Chairman, Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), Mr. Samuel Abejide, has reiterated the commission’s commitment to enhancing the skills and knowledge of local government workers in the state.

The LGSC chairman made this known at a capacity-building workshop themed “Enhancing Supervisory Skills for Improved Service Delivery,” organized for middle-level officers in the Local Government Service.

Represented by the Commissioner in charge of Training and Manpower Development, Mr. Wole Olujobi, the chairman emphasized the importance of continuous training and capacity building in ensuring effective service delivery at the grassroots level.

Mr. Abejide expressed appreciation to the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, for his unwavering support towards capacity development in the state.

The chairman specifically commended the governor’s recent approval of sponsorship for officers to undertake Diploma, Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), and Masters programmes at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, describing the initiative as laudable and aimed at boosting productivity across the service.

Abejide urged participants to embrace a culture of continuous learning and adopt modern supervisory techniques, stressing that improved oversight would enhance the effectiveness of grassroots governance. He expressed confidence that the knowledge gained from the workshop would translate into improved service delivery across the local government system in Ekiti State.

In his welcome address, the Head of the Training Department, Barrister Agbola Emmanuel, highlighted the importance of the workshop in equipping officers with the necessary supervisory skills to drive better performance and accountability within the system.

Agbola stated that the initiative aligns with the Commission’s vision of building a result-driven public service that meets the needs of the people.

Mr. Owolabi Ayodele, who spoke on behalf of the participants, expressed gratitude to the LGSC chairman and the governor for their commitment to staff development, assuring that the knowledge gained would be applied effectively to improve service delivery across their various local governments.

In his lecture titled “Time Management,” the HLA, Pension Transition Trrangement Department ( PTAD), Mr Odunayo Adeosun, concluded that effective time management is a skill that pays dividends for productivity, well-being and long-term success.

He charged participants to make hay while the sun shines and judiciously make use of their time because procrastination is a thief of time. He said time waits for nobody and time lost can never be recovered.
