An ultra modern classroom and multi purpose Hall equipped for pupils with disability built by the former Commissioner for finance in Ekiti State, Mr Akintunde Oyebode has been handed over to the state government.

The classroom features retrofitted adaptive facilities designed to provide children with special needs and equal access to quality education alongside their peers.

The Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Mr Adeoye Aribasoye who inaugurated the complex in Irepodun Primary School Ikole Ekiti, lauded Mr Oyebode for encouraging Education and social inclusion.

Mr Aribasoye explained that the gesture further demonstrated the compassionate side of the former Commissioner and his passion for people living with disability.

He encouraged others to emulate Mr Oyebode and reach out to the less privileged in the society with a view to making it a better place.

“I want to commend my brother, Akin Oyebode for this kind gesture, he has just gave back to the society and that shows the compassionate side of him, he has been doing this, not before now, and I will want to encourage him to continue in the trend.

Ikole people only will not be the beneficiaries of these projects as pupils from other communities will also come here to school, because this building will encourage them, as it is equipped with state of the art equipment, and I want to encourage other good people of Ikole to emulate my good brother, Akin Oyebode”.He added.

The Special Adviser Information, chief Taiwo Olatunbosun praised Mr Oyebode for the gesture.

“Hon Oyebode has just proved that catering for the special children should be the responsibility of all well to do in the society. I thank my brother for these. He noted

The Special Adviser, Social inclusion, Mrs Toun Agboola who traced the history of the complex said the directive of the federal government on inclusion necessitated the building and thanked Mr Akinbode for extending his hands of fellowship.

Mr Akintunde Oyebode said the gesture was his little way to reach out to the special children.

“This project is about giving every child a fair chance. Before now, children with special needs in Ikole and neighbouring towns had to travel far to find inclusive schools. This new facility eliminates that burden and ensures they can learn in a supportive environment close to home,” he said.

He explained that the classrooms were carefully designed to meet inclusive education standards, stressing that the gesture was not charity but an investment in human dignity and the future of Ekiti State.

The Special Adviser Social inclusion, Mrs Agboola later conducted guests round the building
