…Pray for Longevity and Greater Service
The leadership of an indigenous socio-cultural group Ekiti Kete Coalition USA, has congratulated the Senate Leader of the 10th National Assembly, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, CON, on the occasion of his 63rd birthday.
In a congratulatory message issued on Tuesday by the President, Hon. (Dr.) Joe Olugbamila, and the Secretary, Alhaja Opeyemi Oni, the group described Senator Bamidele as a pride of Ekiti land and a worthy ambassador of the Yoruba nation whose life has been dedicated to law, justice, and nation-building.
Hon. (Dr.) Olugbamila noted that the Senate Leader has, over the decades, distinguished himself as a human rights lawyer, activist, and legislator committed to justice, equity, and the unity of Nigeria.
“Sir,Today, we join your family, constituents, and well-wishers across Nigeria to celebrate you on your 63rd birthday. You are a pride to Ekiti land. A lawyer of repute. A fearless advocate. A bridge-builder. A lawmaker whose voice resonates in the hallowed chambers of the Senate and in the hearts of the common people” Hon. (Dr.) Olugbamila added.
He said at 63, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele stands tall as a lawyer, activist, parliamentarian, and bridge-builder, whose voice in the Red Chamber has consistently reflected the aspirations of Ekiti people and the larger Nigerian project of unity, equity, and good governance.
“At 63, Senator Bamidele remains a voice of reason in our democracy. His contributions to law-making, constitutional reforms, and youth mentorship are legacies that will endure,” he stated.
The group’s Secretary, Hajia Opeyemi Oni, praised the Senate Leader for his humility, accessibility, and commitment to youth empowerment and women inclusion in politics and governance.
According to her, Senator Bamidele has used his office to attract developmental projects to Ekiti Central and beyond, while also mentoring a new generation of leaders who believe in service over self.
“He embodies the Omoluabi ethos. He is accessible, humble, and committed to building people and institutions,” she said.
Hajia Oni added that the Senate Leader’s leadership style aligns with the values of Omoluabi — integrity, respect, and community service — which the indigenous group continues to promote across Ekiti State and in the diaspora.
The group recalled Senator Bamidele’s role in national discourse, human rights advocacy, and his dogged pursuit of restructuring and true federalism, describing him as “a patriot who puts Nigeria first.”
As part of the birthday felicitation, Dr. Olugbamila and Hajia Oni prayed for God’s continued protection, sound health, wisdom, and strength to enable him to render more service to Ekiti and Nigeria
“We pray that the Almighty continues to strengthen our leader. May He grant Senator Opeyemi Bamidele many more years of impactful service to Ekiti and to Nigeria,” the statement added.
The indigenous group concluded by urging all Ekiti sons and daughters to emulate the Senate Leader’s dedication to public good, and called on Nigerians to support leaders who are committed to building institutions that outlive them.
