The Ekiti State Local Government Staff Commission headquarters in Ado Ekiti served as the grand finale for a statewide tour embarked on by the management of the commission to drum support for second term bid of the state governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji.

The premises of the Commission buzzed with activity as workers trooped out in large numbers to receive the delegation of Commissioners.

The atmosphere was charged with songs, chants, and sustained applause, reflecting the administration’s direct engagement with the local government workforce.

The Commissioner in charge of the General Administration Department, Prince Suyi Aladesanmi who spoke on behalf of the chairman of the commission, Mr Samuel Abejide noted that history had shown progress in staff welfare, stating that promotion exercises were done as and when due unlike in the past when delays were often experienced.

He said the recently concluded exercise marked a significant departure from that pattern, describing it as evidence of improved administrative efficiency.

The chairman attributed the change to the leadership of the State NULGE President, commending the union for bringing about what he called a “positive transformation” in the process.

Abejide also praised the diligence of local government staff and Loans Board personnel, saying their cooperation with the commission’s leadership have been crucial to ongoing reforms.

Earlier, during a visit to a primary health care centre in Ado, the chairman emphasised the impact of government investments in the health sector.

He urged health workers to ensure the collection of their Permanent Voter Cards, arguing that the sector has no excuse not to deliver significant votes for the governor.

Mr Abejide stated that health workers alone could account for more than 100,000 votes, given their daily interaction with patients across communities.

He urged them to use every opportunity at their duty posts to “preach the gospel of BAO and to translate the benefits they see in the health sector into electoral support.

At the Pension Transition Arrangement Department, the Commissioner in charge of Information, Mr. Wole Olujobi, said the developments being witnessed were not unexpected, as it was a result of commitments made and fulfilled following previous engagements with the workforce.

Olujobi recalled the 2022 mass support march for Governor “BAO,” during which several demands were presented by workers.

According to him, the administration approved and implemented those requests.

“Every demand presented at that time was duly approved and implemented by this administration,” “None of those requests remain unattended to today, as confirmed by the NULGE president himself.” Olujobi stated.

He urged members not to waver in their support, calling on them to remain committed and avoid any form of regret or reversal of the gains made in the past years.

The President of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Comrade O. B. Olatunde, commended staff of the Local Government Commission and Loans Board for their cooperation and unity.

He described their compliance with the commission’s leadership as key to strengthening development efforts at the grassroots.

Olatunde emphasized that every worker should act as an influence within their families, churches, communities, and social groups, noting that individual conduct plays a critical role in shaping public perception and electoral outcomes.

He also warned against political apathy, saying attitudes such as treating election day as a free day or assuming victory is already secured must be discouraged.
